The client
CNN Brasil and Radio Itatiaia cover the 2026 Brazilian election across dozens of debates and candidate interviews, their own and those run by the other major outlets. On 28 August 2026 the two newsrooms announced a partnership with HomoDeus and the system it built for them, the Monitor de Debates.
The problem
A political desk can watch one interview at a time. Debates and sabatinas overlap across CNN, Itatiaia, Folha, UOL and the rest, run for hours, and the story is in a sentence a candidate said at minute 47. Cutting that sentence, checking who said what, and drafting the piece took a journalist the length of the broadcast again. Ten interviews in a week meant nine went uncovered or covered late.
What we built
A pipeline that captures each event live or from the recording, transcribes it, splits it into blocks by topic, and produces cuts and draft essays where every claim cites the exact passage of the transcript. A newsroom console for both outlets where editors pick cuts, ask for a piece, and see the source next to every line. An embed widget both portals run on their own pages. Evaluations gate every release: block boundaries, recording cuts and the writer each pass a fixed test set before anything reaches an editor, and a nightly watch re-checks every scheduled event and reminds the desk of what is coming.
Outcome
The journalist stays in command and follows ten sabatinas instead of one. Cuts arrive with their source, so a quote is checked before it is published, and the piece is drafted while the interview is still on air. Both newsrooms run the console and the widget in production through the election.
